Wrote another blurb about the evolution of timebanking. Helen Stucky Risdon leads a project to develop an app to help Wellness Weaver TimeBank (WWTB) members make exchanges. WWTB includes a list of categories and services integral to it the WW mission. My commentary explores timebank networks and how to engage them…

Each platform, Time and Talents and Community Weaver, lists many WW categories/services. It would be great to have all WWTB categories embedded in the basic software used by timebanks. But we need to coordinate with “platform owners” for Time and Talents and Community Weaver to get it done. They may or may not be receptive.

I am the administrator for the Greener Acres Value Network Time Bank (GAVNet TB. It is an “experimental timebank” in the hOurworld network. As such, I have the latitude to try different category/service combinations. Also, I can use Inter-Trade to distribute requests and offers in the hOurworld network. You may have the same opportunity as a TimeBanks.org timebank administrator.

All timebank members must keep request and offer exchanges separate from monetary transactions. This means exchanges are hours for hours and not money transactions. Also, an hour of your time is an hour of my time with no premiums for one type of service versus another. The literature already published by both timebank platforms makes this very clear. We won’t have to write up anything new to explain it. All we have to do is remind members about the basics.

I’m curious how technology holds our attention and helps us deliver our value as humans. I devote much of my time to researching and writing about this topic. At some point, society will change the way it values its members. Efforts in WWTB and adjacent categories/services will promote this change in valuation. For that reason, I’m willing to put time and energy into what Helen has in mind.

Many readers find it necessary to do paid work. Take care of your responsibilities, first. That said, you might consider the time you put into a project like WWTB an investment in your future. As you gain experience in how we humans change how we value ourselves, it will send more paid work your way. Just a thought…

How shall we determine whether religion has been the cause of human advancement or retrogression?

We will first consider the Founders of the religions—the Prophets—review the story of Their lives, compare the conditions preceding Their appearance with those subsequent to Their departure, following historical records and irrefutable facts instead of relying upon traditionary statements which are open to both acceptance and denial.

Among the great Prophets was Abraham, Who, being an iconoclast and a Herald of the oneness of God, was banished from His native land. He founded a family upon which the blessing of God descended, and it was owing to this religious basis and ordination that the Abrahamic house progressed and advanced. Through the divine benediction noteworthy and luminous prophets issued from His lineage. There appeared Isaac, Ishmael, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Aaron, David and Solomon. The Holy Land was conquered by the power of the Covenant of God with Abraham, and the glory of the Solomonic wisdom and sovereignty dawned. All this was due to the religion of God which this blessed lineage established and upheld. It is evident that throughout the history of Abraham and His posterity this was the source of their honor, advancement and civilization. Even today the descendants of His household and lineage are found throughout the world. 1
