It’s amazing how a cold front can clear the air and leave tufts of fluffy, cottony clouds in deep blue skies behind to mark its passage:

Progress continues:

  • Received excellent responses to my questions about the ebbf Human Well-Being Group as part of the Global Solidarity Accounting (GSA) initiative. The convener setup a Google Space for the work group. Unless someone beats me to it, I’ll compile the responses into a Google Doc and post it to the group for future reference.
  • Responded to the email received from two dear friends a couple of weeks ago. I’ve neglected them in favor of developing presentations for Frameworks for Understanding the World and Greener Acres Value Network News.
  • Used the email exchanges to refine my message about where I intend to focus my research and writing for the foreseeable future.

Here’s a summary statement of purpose:

At this stage of my life, my primary interest is in how one uses the time one has left on the planet. The Bahá’í writings / teachings offer considerable guidance in this regard particularly as it relates to the uniqueness of the human mind, spirit, and soul. It is my opinion that time will become the “currency” of an economic system that emerges as the Divine Plan unfolds.

My working hypothesis is that the currency of time can measure the flows of activity in and out of the GSA “accounts” and lead to an alternative economic system untethered from a monetary base. Moreover, accounting for this flow of time currency will indicate the depth, degree, and speed with which this new economic system, based on Bahá’u’lláh’s “vision of the oneness of humanity,” comes online, so to speak, and facilitates our “rendering service to humanity.”

Tomorrow, I have another VERY important email response to write. AND I’m ready to start revising the Greener Acres Value Network TimeBank website and underlying category / activity structure so it reflects the nine GSA accounts. That way whoever wants to participate can log their time appropriately.

Wish me luck!

Because some of the people who met ‘Abdu’l-Bahá today were musicians, He gave an explanation of the science of music:

Music is produced by vibrations of air which affect the tympanum of the ear. Although music or an ordinary pleasing voice is of the physical realm, yet it has an effect upon the spirit. In the same manner, freshness and purity of the air, the atmosphere, the scenery and sweet fragrances impart joy, spirituality and comfort to the heart. Even though these are physical phenomena they have a great spiritual influence.” 1
