We have several clumps of Siebold’s plantain lily (Hosta sieboldi) in bloom, now. As their Latin name suggests, they’re in the same genus as other varieties in our garden that have already bloomed and gone to seed. Alas, these, too, will run their course in another week, or so. We’ll enjoy them as long as nature allows!

Today, I updated the pages about Global Solidarity Accounting (GSA) on Greener Acres Value Network News website. I also setup a page specifically for the Global Solidarity Initiative, which will be the focus of my attention now that the webpages are in place. Next step will be to integrate the nine GSA accounts into the Greener Acres Value Network TimeBank so that folks who so choose can receive time credits for participating in the initiative. But that’s a task for later — I’ve done enough for today ;-)

In the afternoon ‘Abdu’l-Bahá spoke at a public gathering. He touched on various aspects of love and unity among people and the necessity for cooperation and mutual assistance in human society. In answer to a question regarding vengeance, He replied that man has no right to seek vengeance but that the community is responsible for the protection of all life, property and honor. He then went on to say:

The more material education advances, the more competitive is the race in aggression and injustice. But spiritual education is the cause of competition in praiseworthy actions and the acquisition of human perfections. We hope that day by day these injustices will diminish and the spiritual virtues increase. 1
